Another 11,034 new cases, 10 clusters
A total of 11,034 new Covid-19 cases were recorded on Monday (Feb 7), says Dr Noor Hisham.
The Health director-general said this brings the cumulative total to 2,925,254 cases.
“Out of the 11,034 new Covid-19 cases, 77 are imported cases and 10,957 are local cases.
“A total of 58 patients fall under Categories 3, 4 and 5, whereas there are 10,976 cases under Categories 1 and 2,” he added.
“Among them, 135 cases require treatment in intensive care units (ICU), whereby 84 are confirmed Covid-19 cases and 51 are suspected cases, probabilities and cases under investigation.
“There are 81 patients who require respiratory assistance. Out of them, 38 are confirmed Covid-19 cases and 43 are suspected cases, probabilities and cases under investigation,” he said.
He added that 10 new clusters were identified, which means there are now 366 active clusters in Malaysia.
On the infectivity rate, Dr Noor Hisham said the national R-naught rate stood at 1.27 with all states and territories recording 1.0 and above.
Sabah (1.47), Perlis (1.4) and Sarawak (1.3) were the top three on the chart, whereas Kuala Lumpur had the lowest infectivity rate of 1.1.

Number of new cases spikes to 7,234
New Covid-19 cases have increased by over 1,500 cases on Friday (Feb 4) with 7,234 cases reported.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cumulative number of infections in the country was now 2,895,014.
“The number of recoveries reported on Friday was 5,254 cases bringing the cumulative total to 2,799,608.
“Of the new cases recorded on Friday, 234 were import cases involving 92 Malaysians and 142 foreigners,” he said in a statement on Friday.
He said 118 cases were treated at intensive care units with 57 cases requiring ventilator support.
“Twenty-one new clusters were reported on Friday, bringing the number of active clusters to 346.
“Of the 7,234 new cases, 73 were category three, four and five while the remaining were category one and two,” he said.
On the country’s infectivity rate Dr Noor Hisham said the national R-nought rate stood at 1.11.
“All states except for Labuan recorded a value of over 1 with Perlis topping the charts at 1.25 followed by Johor (1.20), and Penang (1.17).
“Kelantan, Terengganu and Sarawak recorded a value of 1.04 respectively while Labuan recorded a zero infectivity rate,” he said.

Dip in daily cases with 4,915 new infections reported
Malaysia has recorded a slight dip in Covid-19 cases with new infections reaching 4,915 on Sunday (Jan 30) after breaching the 5,000 mark over the past three days.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cases bring the cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 2,865,984 cases since the pandemic began.
Out of the new cases, 4,727 were local infections while 188 were imported, said Dr Noor Hisham, adding that 99.2% or 4,876 cases were in Categories One and Two while 0.8% or 39 patients were in Categories Three, Four and Five.

Daily cases dip below 4,000 mark with 3,856 reported Sunday (Jan 23)
Malaysia recorded 3,856 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (Jan 23), says the Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry said, in a statement, that this brings the cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 2,832,945 since the pandemic began.
It added that of the new cases, 492 were imported cases involving 378 Malaysian citizens and 114 foreigners.
Of the 3,856 cases reported Sunday, only 35 (or 0.9%) were in Categories 3 and 4 and needed hospitalisation. The remaining 99.1%, or 3,821 cases, were in Categories 1 and 2, and were either asymptomatic or displaying mild symptoms.
The statement also said that 13 new Covid-19 clusters had been detected, bringing the total number of active clusters to 235 as of Sunday.
According to the Health Ministry, Malaysia has recorded 6,306 Covid-19 clusters since the pandemic began.
More detailed information on the current Covid-19 situation will be uploaded to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal at midnight, the statement added.

Malaysia recorded 3,381 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (Jan 7), says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said, in a tweet, that this brings the cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in Malaysia to 2,780,080 since the pandemic began.
He added that Selangor recorded the most cases with 879, followed by Kelantan (385), Johor (299) and Kuala Lumpur (271).
