Malaysia recorded another record high of 17,786 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday (July 31), the Health Ministry has confirmed.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a tweet that the country’s total cumulative cases has now reached 1,113,272.

Selangor remained the state with the most cases, recording 6,400 new infections.

Cases in other states are as follows; Kuala Lumpur (1,962), Kedah (1,389), Johor (1,144), Sabah (1,035), Negri Sembilan (929), Terengganu, (883), Perak (775), Penang, (713), Melaka, (697), Pahang (653), Perak (596), Kelantan (580), Sarawak (485), Putrajaya (116), Perlis (16) and Labuan (11).

Malaysia recorded 16,840 new cases of Covid-19, the Health Ministry confirmed on Friday (June 30).

The country has now has a cumulative total of 1,095,486 infections to date.

Case figures in other states are as follows: Kuala Lumpur (2,114 cases), Kedah (1,281), Johor (1,104), Negri Sembilan (1,079), Sabah (1,066), Perak (810), Penang (689), Kelantan (656), Melaka (581), Pahang (540), Sarawak (450), Terengganu (258), Putrajaya (100), Perlis (13) and Labuan (seven).

In the same 24-hour span, 134 more people died from Covid-19.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll is now 8,859.

There were 12,179 patients discharged in the same period.

Total recoveries are now 902,921 – or 82.42% of all cases.

There are 183,706 active cases across the country currently.

Of that figure, 1,055 are in intensive care units (ICU) and 532 are on ventilator support.

Malaysia recorded 17,170 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday (July 29), the Health Ministry has confirmed.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a tweet that the country’s total cumulative cases has now reached 1,078,646.

Selangor remained the state with the most cases, recording 7,163 new infections.

Cases in other states are as follows; Kuala Lumpur (2,138), Kedah (1,212),Johor (1,054), Negri Sembilan (884), Sabah (776), Pahang (638), Kelantan (615),

Perak (596), Sarawak (582), Terengganu (437), Melaka (416), Putrajaya (84), Labuan (11) and Perlis (10).

In the same 24-hour span, 12,930 patients were discharged from treatment.

To date, 890,742 patients in Malaysia have recovered from Covid-19.

There are 174 more Covid-19 fatalities, bringing the national death toll to 8,725.

Total active cases in the country have now gone up to an all-time high of 179,179.

Of this figure, 1,043 are in intensive care units (ICU), with 531 on ventilator support.

The country’s total cumulative cases has now reached 1,061,476.

Selangor remained the state with the most cases, recording 7,171 new infections.

Cases in other states are as follows: Kuala Lumpur (2,880 cases), Kedah (1,112), Sabah (913), Negri Sembilan (863), Johor (767), Penang (760), Kelantan (532), Melaka (531), Terengganu (490), Sarawak (464), Pahang (429), Perak (406), Putrajaya (68), Labuan (16) and Perlis (three).

In the same 24-hour span, 12,373 patients were discharged from treatment.

To date, 877,812 patients in Malaysia have recovered from Covid-19.

Malaysia has recorded 16,117 new Covid-19 cases, the Health Ministry announced on Tuesday (July 27).

This takes the country’s total confirmed cases to 1,044,071.

Selangor remains top out of all states with 6,616 new cases.

Kuala Lumpur is second highest with 2,457 new infections, followed by Kedah with 1,000.

Covid-19 cases in other states are as follows: Johor (907 cases), Sabah (741), Melaka (674), Negri Sembilan (669), Penang (618), Kelantan (592), Perak (583), Sarawak (405), Pahang (403), Terengganu (317), Putrajaya (122), Labuan (11) and Perlis (two).

Of the 16,117 new cases, 26 are imported infections, while the rest are local transmissions.

The total active cases have now risen to 170,224.

Of that, 1,023 are in intensive care units (ICU) with 524 on ventilator support.

Malaysia also reported 207 new Covid-19 deaths, which is equal to the country’s daily record for fatalities.

The national Covid-19 death toll is now 8,408.

In the same 24-hour span, 11,526 patients were discharged from treatment.

Since the pandemic began, 865,439 people in Malaysia have recovered from Covid-19.

Malaysia recorded 14,516 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (July 26), bringing the cumulative total to 1,027,954.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 6,508, followed by Johor (1,449), Kuala Lumpur (1,425) and Kedah (1,160).

In the same 24-hour period, there were 207 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 8,201.

There were also 9,372 recoveries, which means 853,913 have recovered from the disease nationwide.

Malaysia recorded a new record high of 15,902 new cases on Saturday (July 24), bringing the nation’s cumulative total to 996,393 cases.

In a tweet on Saturday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said Selangor recorded the most infections with 7,351 cases.

This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,406 cases), Kedah (867) and Johor (804) as well as Sabah (712), Negri Sembilan (625), Melaka (631) and Penang (505).

Aside from these states, Kelantan (502), Perak (469), Pahang (406), Terengganu (267) and Sarawak (261) also recorded new cases.

Malaysia recorded 15,573 new cases on Friday (July 23), bringing the nation’s cumulative total to 980,491 cases.

In a tweet on Friday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said Selangor recorded the most infections with 7,672 cases.

This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,063 cases), Kedah (937) and Johor (722) as well as Negri Sembilan (682), Penang (530) and Sabah (516).

Aside from these states, Sarawak (461), Pahang (457), Melaka (452), Perak (415), Kelantan (372) and Terengganu (229) also recorded new cases.

Covid-19: 199 deaths recorded, highest since pandemic began

The Covid-19 pandemic marked another grim milestone with 199 deaths on Wednesday (July 21), the highest in a single day so far.

The previous highs were 138 fatalities reported on July 17 and 135 on July 8.

The country’s Covid-19 death toll has now reached 7,440 cases since the pandemic began, said the Health Ministry in it’s a statement on Wednesday.

Of the 199 deaths recorded, 84 were from Selangor, KL (57), Melaka (16), Kedah (12), Negri Sembilan (seven), Pahang (six), Johor (six), Terengganu (three), and two each in Kelantan, Penang and Perak, and one each in Sabah and Sarawak.

There were 26 foreign nationals among the 199 deaths, consisting of 14 in KL, 10 in Selangor and one respectively in Melaka and Kedah.

The Health Ministry also classified 33 deaths as “brought in dead” cases.

There were 11,985 new cases recorded, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 951,884.

There were 137,587 active Covid-19 cases as of Wednesday.

At present, there are 927 people in intensive care units (ICU) nationwide with 459 on ventilator support.

Malaysia recorded 10,972 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (July 19), bringing the total number of cases in the country since the pandemic began to 927,533.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a tweet Monday that Selangor still accounted for the most number of new cases with 4,404 infections.

Negri Sembilan was the only other state to report new cases in four figures, with 1,340 new Covid-19 infections.

Only Perlis had new a case in the single digit, with only one new infection.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 case rate has continued to climb, as the country reported a record 13,215 infections on Thursday (July 15).

Selangor has the highest figure with 6,120 cases – a record for the state as well.

This brings the country’s cumulative total of infections since the pandemic began to 867,567 cases.

Total number of Covid-19 recoveries in the country is 759,705 or 87.57%.

Another 118 more people died to the coronavirus.

This takes the country’s Covid-19 death toll up to 6,503.

Active cases have gone up to 101,359.

Of that number, 878 are under intensive care of which 432 are on ventilator support.

Selangor remained the state with the most number of cases, with 5,051 new infections reported while Kuala Lumpur is second with 1,749 cases, followed by Negri Sembilan with 1,537.

The number of Covid-19 cases dipped slightly to 8, 574 on Monday (July 12), after several days with numbers crossing the 9, 000 mark, tweeted the Health Ministry.

This brings the cumulative number of cases to 844, 870.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also tweeted that Selangor continued to record the highest number of cases with 4, 308, followed by Negri Sembilan (794), Kuala Lumpur (609), Kedah (415), Melaka (411) and Johor (407).

Pahang recorded 314 cases, Sabah (298), Sarawak (235), Penang (231), Perak (168), Terengganu (140) and Kelantan (133).

The Federal Territories of Labuan and Putrajaya recorded 66 and 45 cases respectively while Perlis was the only state with no new cases.

In the same 24-hour period, there were also 102 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 6, 260.

There were also 5, 041 recoveries, which means 747, 338 have recovered from the disease nationwide since the outbreak started early last year.

Malaysia recorded an all-time high of 9,353 Covid-19 cases recorded in a single day, tweeted the Health Ministry on Saturday (July 10).

This takes the number of cumulative cases to 827,191.

This surpassed the previous high of 9,180 cases on Friday (July 9), which went past the 9,020 cases recorded on May 29.

In the same 24-hour period, there were 87 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 6,067.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor has the highest figure with 1,858 new cases.

This was followed by Negri Sembilan (1,086 cases), Kuala Lumpur (641), Sarawak (559), Johor (449), Sabah (248), Kedah (197), Melaka (184), Kelantan (154), Penang (97), Labuan (97), Terengganu (77), Pahang (54), Perak (30) and Putrajaya (7).

Perlis has zero cases.

Malaysia also recorded 60 more deaths on Thursday, taking the Covid-19 death toll to 4,202.

Currently, there are 909 patients under intensive care – a reduction from 924 reported the day before.

There are 441 patients on ventilator support.

In the same 24-hour span, 7,530 more patients were discharged from treatment – bringing total recoveries up to 608,465.

The number of active Covid-19 cases has come down to 66,097, from 67,949 on Wednesday.

Malaysia recorded another 5,150 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (June 16), the Health Ministry confirms.

With that, the country’s Covid-19 tally has gone up to 673,026.

In a Twitter post, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor has the highest figure with 1,914 new cases.

This takes the country’s tally of infections to 667,876 and the death toll up to 4,069.

Eighty-six deaths were recorded on Friday (June 4) involving 83 locals and three foreigners, bringing the country’s death toll to 3,182, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said of the 86 deaths, Selangor recorded 20, followed by Johor (14), Negri Sembilan (13), Kuala Lumpur (seven), Sarawak (five), Kedah (four), three each in Sabah, Melaka, Pahang, Perak, Labuan, Penang, two each in Kelantan, Terengganu and one death in Perlis.

“A total of 7,748 new cases were recorded on June 4, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 603,122.

“The rate of recovery is now 85.5% with 6,624 recoveries on Friday. Cumulatively, 515,571 have recovered so far.

“The number of active cases is now 84,369 cases with 883 requiring intensive care unit treatment and 459 on ventilator support,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said 23 new clusters were reported on Friday, bringing the number of active clusters to 691.

A total of 6,999 new cases were reported on Sunday (May 30), a dip from the record high of more than 9,000 cases on Saturday (May 29).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor topped the list of states with the most number of infections at 2,477 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur (616) and Kelantan (612).

Perlis, the smallest state in Malaysia, recorded the lowest number of infections at seven cases, followed by the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Labuan at 13 and 133 cases, respectively. ‘

A total of 79 deaths involving 78 Malaysians and one non-citizen were also recorded on Sunday (May 30), bringing the Covid-19 death toll to 2,729.

Dr Noor Hisham said that among the 78,017 active cases in the country, 846 patients are in the intensive care units (ICU) and 419 are intubated.

There were also 17 new clusters recorded and that 635 clusters are currently still active out of the cumulative 2,163 recorded since the outbreak began in early last year.

The national Rt (pronounced R-naught) or infectivity rate currently stands at 1.16, meaning that for every one individual infected, they could pass on the virus to 116 new persons.

“The number of cases reported daily is showing a sharp increase, according to the exponential graph.

“An increase of between a thousand and two thousand cases daily is not an impossibility.

“We have seen 98 deaths in a day on May 29 due to Covid-19. The situation will also possibly continue and it is not impossible that it can continue to increase, ” he said, adding that the country recorded 5,121 recoveries on Sunday.

This brings the cumulative total to 525,889.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Selangor topped the list of states with the highest number of cases, at 2,642, followed by Johor at 664 cases and Kuala Lumpur at 604.

Every state and Federal Territory in Malaysia has recorded new cases.

Perlis, which is the smallest state in Malaysia, recorded the least number of new cases with eight new infections, followed by the Federal Territories of Putrajaya at 23 and Labuan at 63.

In the same 24-hour period, there were 60 fatalities, bringing the death toll to 2,369.

Malaysia has reached an unwanted milestone when the country’s cumulative Covid-19 cases breached the half-a-million mark on Saturday (May 22).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that another 6,317 cases were reported, bringing the total cumulative cases to 505,115 since the first case in the country was reported on Jan 25 last year.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,647 followed by Sarawak (749), Kuala Lumpur (654), Kelantan (613), Johor (477) and Penang (359).

The number of recoveries, however, is lower than new cases, with 4,694 patients being discharged in the past 24 hours.

In total, 449,234 patients or 88.9% have recovered from Covid-19 in the country with active cases now up to 53,682 cases.

There are 650 patients in intensive care units, with 370 of them requiring ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also said that another 50 people died of the virus, with the death toll at 2,199 people or 0.44% of all cases.

The number of deaths from Covid-19 in a day has hit a new high, with 44 fatalities recorded on Saturday (May 15).

This surpasses the previous record of 39 deaths on May 12 (Wednesday).

With the 44 deaths, the death toll from Covid-19 now stands at 1,866, or 0.4%.

For the fourth day in a row, the number of new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia have surpassed 4,000.

Malaysia recorded 4,140 new cases on Saturday, bringing the number of current active cases to 42,135.

Some 503 patients are being treated in intensive care units (ICU), with 272 requiring ventilator support.

There were 3,432 new recovered cases, taking the recovery rate to 90.56%.

Selangor contributed the bulk of new cases with 1,507 new infections, followed by Johor (433) and Kuala Lumpur (398), according to the Health Ministry.

Since Wednesday (May 12), cases breached the 4,000 mark, beginning with 4,765, increasing to 4,855 on Thursday and 4,113 on Friday.

The cumulative total now stands at 466,330 cases.

On another matter, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 132 people from India were brought back to Malaysia through a humanitarian and disaster relief mission on May 12.

“Only those who tested negative for Covid-19 were allowed to go on the departing flight.

“But when they were tested on arrival, seven of the 132 people were found to be positive,” he said in a tweet.

Dr Noor Hisham added that the Health Ministry extended their quarantine period from 14 to 21 days.

He said in a news portal that the ministry had yet to determine if the seven positive cases were variants of concern.

“The sample for a full genomic sequence has been taken and it takes time, as we need to culture the virus before full genome sequencing,” Dr Noor Hisham said in the report.

This is an increase compared to Tuesday (May 4)’s 3,120 cases and 2,500 cases on Monday (May 3).

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,548 new infections.

Six other states recorded three-digit figures – Kelantan with 480 cases, Sarawak (419), Kuala Lumpur (313), Johor (292), Penang (195) and Kedah (124).

Cumulatively, Malaysia has 424,376 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.

Malaysia recorded 3,120 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (May 4), bringing cumulative total to 420,632.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that Selangor again recorded the most new cases with 675.

This was followed by Sarawak with 620 cases, Kuala Lumpur (408), Johor (336) and Kelantan (296).

In a tweet Tuesday, Dr Noor Hisham also said Perlis had reported no new cases while Labuan only had five.

Another 18 people in the country have died to Covid-19, as numbers of critically ill patients continue to increase.

In his daily Covid-19 updates on Monday (May 3), Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the death cases involved those aged between 29 and 87.

“Seven of the deaths were in Selangor, three in Kuala Lumpur, two each in Sarawak and Kelantan, and one each in Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Johor and Sabah.

“One is a foreign citizen, while the rest are Malaysians.

“The Health Ministry expresses its condolences to the family members, ” said Dr Noor Hisham.

The number of patients currently treated in intensive care units (ICU) has gone up to 352.

Those requiring ventilator support have also increased to 186.

The day before, there were 345 ICU cases and 175 patients on ventilators.

Active Covid-19 cases receiving treatment in the country have now gone up to 30,753.

In the last 24-hour span before 12pm Monday, 2,068 patients were discharged from treatment.

Covid-19 recoveries in Malaysia is now 385,208 which is at a rate of 92.3%

The total number of cases in Malaysia is now up to 417,512, after another 2,500 new infections were recorded.

Selangor’s 637 new cases – about 25.5% of Malaysia’s total – is the highest out of all states.

“Of Selangor’s new cases, 84.9% are those uncovered from clusters or contact tracing activities, ” said Dr Noor Hisham.

The rest (96 cases) are sporadic and are detected from various Covid-19 screening activities.

New daily Covid-19 cases continue to exceed recoveries after 1,854 new cases were detected in the country on Friday (April 9) against 1,247 patients discharged.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cumulative discharge number now stood at 341,489 while there are still 14,805 active cases throughout the country.

On Sarawak recording its highest daily numbers so far with 555 cases, he said the increase is due to clusters and community infections including longhouses.

“The factors that contributed to the increase in cases are social and mass gathering activities such as funerals, weddings and others,” he said in a statement.

Sarawak was followed by Selangor (403 cases) and Penang (176).

Of the country’s new cases, 1,834 were locally transmitted while 20 were imported.

Of Friday’s new cases, 58 were detected from prison and Immigration detention depot clusters namely the Jalan Harapan prison cluster (25 cases), Tembok Sri Aman cluster (three), Tembok Muhasabah cluster (13), Teluk Mas cluster (11), Pengkalan Chepa cluster (four), DTI Sepang cluster (one), and the Tembok Tapah cluster (one).

Currently, 169 patients are in intensive care, with 79 requiring ventilator support.

Five deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll to 1,313.

To date, 357,607 Covid-19 cases have been detected in the country.

The number of new Covid-19 cases outnumbered recoveries after 1,285 new cases were detected in the country on Thursday (April 8).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 1,175 people recovered, bringing the cumulative number of patients discharged to 340,242.

The total number of active cases in the country stands at 14,203.

Dr Noor Hisham added that Selangor recorded the highest daily cases at 374.

“Of this number, 292 were detected from existing clusters and close contact screenings,” he said in a statement.

Selangor was followed by Sarawak with 211 cases and Penang with 162.

Of the new cases, 1,268 were locally transmitted while 17 were imported.

Dr Noor Hisham also said 105 cases that were reported were from prison and Immigration detention depot clusters involving the Jalan Harapan prison cluster (89 cases), Tembok Sri Aman cluster (six), Pagar Bukit Chagar cluster (four), Tembok Taiping cluster (two), Pengkalan Chepa cluster (two), Tembok Mempaga cluster (one), and the Tembok Tapah cluster (one).

Malaysia recorded 1,139 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (April 7), bringing the cumulative total to 354,468.

Sarawak still tops the list in the number of infections with 332 cases, followed by Selangor with 294 cases and Johor with 102 cases.

In the same 24-hour period, there were four fatalities, bringing the death toll to 1,304.

Of the four deaths, two of the fatalities were in Sarawak and there was one death each in Kuala Lumpur and Johor.

They were all Malaysians aged between 61 and 87.

In his daily update on the pandemic, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said there were a total of 1,199 recoveries.

Malaysia has 1,070 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (April 5), taking the cumulative total to 352,029.

The Health Ministry reported that Selangor tops the list of states – recording 327 new cases.

Sarawak is second with 225 cases, followed by Penang with 133 cases.

Other states recorded less than 100 cases.

Nine of Monday’s cases are imported infections, while the rest are local transmissions.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 904 (85.2%) are Malaysians while 157 (14.8%) are foreigners.

There are seven new Covid-19 fatalities, pushing Malaysia’s death toll up to 1,295.

Another 1,294 patients were discharged from treatment, bringing the total number of recoveries to 336,456, or 95.6% of all cases.

There are now 14,278 active cases nationwide.

Of that total, 180 are currently under intensive care, with 89 of them requiring ventilator support.

In his daily statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the death cases involved Malaysians aged between 46 to 86.

“Four of the country’s death cases are reported in Selangor. Two others are in Sabah and one in Johor,

“The ministry would like to express its condolences to the family members, ” said Dr Noor Hisham.

All of the deceased had a history of comorbidities such as high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidemia.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 death rate is at 0.37% out of all cases.

A total of 1,638 new Covid-19 cases were recorded on Saturday (April 3), bringing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 349,610.

Three fatalities were also recorded with the death toll now at 1,286

Perak emerged as the state with the most Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours at 494 cases.

According to the Health Ministry, 486 or 98.4% of these cases came from the Jalan Pelabuhan cluster involving the workplace that was identified on Feb 20.

Selangor and Sarawak followed in with the second and third highest number of new cases at 352 and 290 respectively.

As of noon Saturday, there were 1,449 recoveries.
